Inspired by song.
The process of using a pen is difficult but interesting. This is my first time learning how actual cursive is written and exploring the differences in thickness of the lines a pen can create.

I chose a phrase with many circles to practice creating the comparison between thick and thin lines. I firstly created outlines, then tried to write the words in as less strokes as possible. I realized that creating thin strokes are easier for me and I can write better with a lighter pressure. The pen doesn’t allow me to create dramatically bigger strokes, so two strokes were needed with the thicker areas. After finishing the words, I added some details into the words to make it more interesting. I added hearts at the start of each word, and little dash lines that represent “less” at the end of each world. The overall process to get the right pressure is difficult, but I know it would become easier with time.
Inspired by the song: "Bad Apple"
I chose the glass apple as my subject because it creates a transparent convex lens that can reverse the image behinds it. I used dark blue marker to write on the apple because lighter colors do not show well enough. Because of it's rounded shape, the words are harder to arrange. Since my design is pretty simple, I decided to add a complicated gothic background to make the picture look more interesting. The apple is able to reverse the background behind it and magnify it, blending it in with the words on the apple. The choice of display and subject makes the design stand out more overall. |
