"I am drenched, I am rain." - lyric from Yoshiwara Lament
Theme: rain I am a conservative person. I appreciated people's suggestions for my last project, but I mostly stayed with my original ideas because I don't think the suggestions worked as well. Instead, I incorporated the suggestions into this new project. This work is a combination of many experimentations that I was not able to use before. Unlike the last project where my colors are similar and black and white, I tried to experience with more color for this project. The major color scheme is blue, but warmer colors are added to brighten viewer's eyes. I also experienced using different fonts and different color of the fonts, unlike the last assignment where I only used one font and one shade of grey. I tested the effect of translucent color with the cloth of the girl and liked the effect of the difference in not only the change of color of the dress, but also the change of the color of the shadow. The illustration is hand-drawn so the lines are not as refined as my last work, but the overall appeal covered the small flaws. I was also able to experiment with a textured background rather than just plain color. The textured background resembles the theme of this piece and creates a stronger effect.

Text: Fall in Love ~Autumn is here~
Medium: Prisma Color I chose this line because "fall in love" is a pun for autumn, which I found is quite interesting. The word "fall" consists of trees and fallen leaves, signalling the arrival of autumn. The word "love" has a silky feeling, reflecting the romance of the word. There are hearts at both the start of the word and the end, symbolizing the connection of two hearts. The next line, "Autumn is here", is written with a smaller font to have the effect of a gentle whisper and is also a contrast with the big and complicated font before it. I have presented this piece of design in a heart of leaves, again adding components of both love and autumn to the design. No matter if it is falling in love with a person or with autumn, this piece would fit the theme. |
